I'm torn, folks. I've been looking at the EOS M and can't decide if I need it. I know, I know. Somebody will say that only I can make that decission. Well, if I could, I wouldn't be starting this thread :). I currently have a 60D and a 7D, so I can't decide if the M would do something the other 2 could do or not. Please give me reasons to buy, or not to buy. PLEASE HELP.

It seems like a pretty awesome pocket camera... if you need something small and portable to complement the big boys, it would be a good purchase.

The one benefit it has its the ability to use the 22mm f/2 to make a compact APS-C camera with a wide fast lens. I wouldn't buy it if I was in your shoes.

I think you need to ask yourself, am I ever out and about and wish I had my camera? If the answer to that is yes, then would you be more likely to bring the EOS-M with 22 f/2?

Do you need a 3rd camera? Like most on here, it's a case of want and therefore you should ask yourself do you want that camera bad enough. If so then get it.

get rid of the 60D and get the M. Use the 7D for telephoto work. Best thing about the M is that you can shoot without being intrusive in close quarters. It's like shooting the pancake on FF. People just dont take you seriously, and dont care if you point that little thing at them. Slap on a big lens, and they'll be dodging you.

Yeah, sell one of our DSLRs and buy a Oly or Fuji mirrorless. They're better than the "M".

Better in some aspects. But for $300/350, which of those gets you an APSC sensor with a lens? Limited lens selection, yes. But it's quite a bargain now if you ask me.

if a smaller size and lighter weight is important then the M might be 4 U

I found myself facing this same question just last week. Do I get the "M" for a great deal or not too. Love that little pocket cam , that look alone with an "L" lense is killer.:D

After much debate , I decided to get accessories for my 5DM3 instead. In the end I
found a great used Canon 580EX flash , Rogue starter gel filter kit and Pixel wireless
flash trigger kit for just over 400 bucks. Could not be happier.

Have to ask , do you really need another camera? Like Charlie said , sell the 60D and
get the "m" as a back up and some extra goodies for the "M" if you do decide to go that
way.

Good luck , keep us posted.

Canon 6D , Canon 30D , Canon 10D, 24-105 4F IS "L" , 40mm 2.8 STM, and the trusty Nifty Fifty. Coming soon Canon 7D and Tamron 24-70 2.8mm.

Alternatively get a 100D and a pancake. About as light and capable of working with a wider range of lenses.

I was just in the same situation this week. I want a smaller camera I can take out on family outings with my family when I don't want to take my 7d. I decided to purchase the M with the 18-55 lens. I was looking at the NEX system but the Canon looked to be the best for the money with the recent price drop. I plan on getting the ef adapter and have some fun with this little camera, it should be here Tuesday from B&H
