The idea is to have one speedlite per body, each triggering the same slave when fired. I guess everything would be set to the same channel right? Does this work?

The answer is YES! Well, the same photographer actually - me. I swap the one master between my two bodies right now and would like to have one on each permanently. Thanks for the confirmation!
