So I'm looking at an advert that says one of the lenses in the photo is X when I know it's not...a 24/1.4 that is clearly a 50/1.4....so I write to the seller and ask for photos showing the lenses more clearly...saying that the lens MAY be a 2.8...
Seller writes back without pix saying that the lens IS a 1.4...I write back saying that the maker (Nikon) DID NOT EVER MAKE a 24/1.4 manual lens shown in the photo (though Nikon did make an AF)...but don't expect to hear back.
...and if not that ad will be flagged if not removed, if I have any say about it...I'm so p'd at CL scams...

Sometimes I think a lot of these CL sellers don't know WHAT they're selling. could be something they got from a departed relative...or something they STOLE!

Sorry for double post. don't know what happened there,

That is CL. People get rid of stolen items on CL. But on the same side, there are good sellers on CL. I know I have a hit or miss luck with selling items but the ones that was serious stood out and you can tell they were serious. I have also bought from there and had positive feedback. I bought a flash on there with no issues and I'm still using that flash today. Clearly he knew what he was talking about since he said he was upgrading and told me specs on the flash and he preferred to meet at Panera bread and not somewhere shady.

I like CL, because you can hold and try out the item before you buy it. If you meet the seller and they hand you a 50mm, kindly inform them they were mistaken. Tell them this 50mm stamp is not a manufacturers code for 24mm. Then all you've lost is a bit of time, no money.

I just bought a mint quality 85mm 1.8 off of craiglist for $70 less than the lowest "used" one on amazon. If you're patient and sometimes willing to drive a bit, there is nothing better than cl for photo equipment. I also have a background in sales, so that helps a bit to during the actual transaction.

True. Didn't know it was 60 miles. If he's unwilling to show more pics just don't bother with him anymore. Someone who didn't know what they were selling would send more pics, someone who knows what they're selling but knows it's different than what they're advertising would be shady like this.

I recently sold a CHAIR on Ebay for $850 and drove 80 miles to meet the guy to get it to him...from the pix HE knew what he was getting and HE drove 150 miles to meet ME...of course, the photos I posted were GREAT! :)
