My Tokina has performed flawlessly on the 7D, it even nails focus in low light and low contrast situations. Don't let that review break your confidence in this lens, try it out first and see what you think then.

Have you tried AF point expansion and Zone AF modes?

Try setting AI servo AF tracking method (CF. III-3) to 1: Continuous AF track priority to start out with and swap between 0 : Main focus point priority to see which setting works best for your circumstance.

I'm on my second Tokina 11-16 and still I can't seem to get a crisp shot at infinity. Even in MF, the subject almost becomes sharp just as I run out of room to rotate the lens.

I have two Canon lenses and near the infinity mark both will get sharp, then OOF again as I continue to rotate past infinity. However, with each of the two Tokina 11-16 lenses I've tried (DX I and DX II), the focus never gets to sharp and then it stops, no more room to rotate.

Is it possible or even likely that there's a setting in my 7d that could be causing this?

I have the Tokina 11-16. I'd love to like it, but it's just not sharp enough. A friend of mine has the 10-22 from Canon and his images just knock mine out the park for IQ. He's using the 400D too.

The AF is quite slow, it also makes the same noise in AF as my 50mm 1.8. I don't know, maybe it's needing calibrated in the IQ dept but I'm not as excited by it as I was before I got it. Saying that I have been using this 70-200 for weeks now so on comparison maybe it's terrible to that IQ.

Even if the lens is "soft", is it unusual for the Tokina 11-16 to reach the end of rotation past the infinity mark, before the image ever comes into focus? When slowly rotating all the way, shouldn't the image come into focus and then get blurry again as you rotate past infinity? I apologize if I'm not using correct terminology, but I hope someone can help. As I said above, I'm on my second version of this lens and my experience has been the same with each lens.

I've been using a Canon 7d, tripod & remote trying to get landscape photos. Thanks.
