any suggestions on which light meter to purchase?

I am trying to balance cost with features

Sekonic L-358's go for about $200 in the for-sale forum. Mine works great. Its hard to say much more without knowing exactly what you need.

iPhone free app. Has live view and calibration.

Yes, you need to help us if we're going to try to help you. Studio for portrait/product? Studio with strobes? Wildlife? General walk-around shooting?
