I'm currently using the HDR converter in PS CC, and am not terribly happy with results.
Can you recommend the best free standing programs?

Can you recommend the best free standing programs? I usually just manually blend the images by hand since I"m always after natural results and just use HDR for improved DOF, but I used to always use HDR Efex Pro. I liked it better than Photomatix. Photomatix is a stand alone program and HDR Efex Pro is a plug-in for photoshop, but I found it creates more natural images for me and is easier to work with. I prefer Nik. There are other options out there too like Machinery and Oloneo. Most offer fully functional demos you can download, they either stop working after a certain number of days or put a watermark on the final image, but it's great to be able to try before you buy.
