Can you please help "fix" this image? (shadows)

I was in a hurry to shoot this for my sister's audition (dance) that I forgot about shadows. Actually it wouldn't *REALLY* have mattered since I don't have an off shoe cord so my flash was limited :(

I think I shot this at f/8, 1/25th on tripod.

I tried to B&W and glow it to hide the "mistakes", could somebody help with the shadows and/or sharpening? Thanks!

Also straighten and make the floor continue instead of drop, the stairs... (no photoshop on this computer :()

I've softened the shadow so less harsh, extended the carpet to right, straightened, colour balanced it a touch and sharpened it.
