What's your take on the UK's Royal Family photo of the newborn Prince George

Evidently, I can't post the photo, because it isn't mine
I will post the link
http://www.independent.co.uk …ots-released-8775487.html (external link)

It wasn't taken by the Royal photographer as it would normally have been done in the past for a first family photo, it was taken by Prince George's grandfather, no, not Prince Charles, but Kate's father, Michael

I would of done it slightly different, I don't like too much highlights on my photos, if I can help it

they should pay the paparazzi for giving them better photos...they're pretty bad...

i'm not sure if the guy used a flash or not...i would assume not, as if he did i would think it would've been better to expose for the background, and use the flash to light up the people...

or at least shoot during a better time of day, or something...

I read somewhere (here on POTN) those (the official photos) were taken by an uncle.

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

I think they're a good example of why it's worth paying a professional (if you can afford it, clearly not an issue here!) to take these sorts of pictures.

Good on the proud grandfather for his eforts but I hope they have some better shots done. Not because they're royals, just because any newborn is worth celebrating and the stage where you can take photos like this passes in the blink of an eye.

Had to smirk on yesterday's news when a so called media togger slated Kate's father for not adhering to the cardinal rule of 'keeping the sun over the toggers shoulder'. He then went on to say Kate's father 'missed the chance to use the beautiful strong sun to capture the bright colours in the open'
Tool !

Tons of enthusiasm, loads of kit, limited skill...

I first saw it on the BBC news yesterday and thought to myself. Thats not a photograph I would be proud for the world to see, despite the fact that it was taken by the child's Grandfather.

Maybe they are going for something like a snapshot look in order to try and make it more relatable to the masses.

He is proud for the world to see it because he is the grandfather.

Maybe they just wanted to be relaxed and not all this posed stuff that went on in the past

Dad looked like he used his iphone. Its really a horrible image. This one on the bottom of the page is much nicer and softer light:

It looks exactly like what it is: a pleasant family snap taken by a loving grandfather who is just another guy with a camera. I think it's not bad as snaps go.

But don't worry, there'll be plenty of professional, posed photos for the remainder of the kid's life.

Yup, indeed
