Well - my yongnuo flash arrived today, and I feel completely bamboozled. Just to get me started while I begin to try understand all this - what should I have it set to for on camera flash please?

Rose consider a screen loupe, there are many from el affordable to das expensive, here an example:

Doing macro you're on a tripod anyway right...so this might help when using liveview and 10x.
Also for sitting around looking/grading/judging any pics on the camera and wanting to block glare and stray light these are useful.

Markhyo congratulations on a great camera. Good to see you are pushing the ISO already. Keep posting pics for us :)

Thanks! I know some don't like to shoot over a certain ISO but I actually like the grain and noise in high ISO images. It reminds me of the high grain of film. If noise is too much for some it does clean up rather nicely in post in programs like Lightroom and Camera RAW. Besides if Canon didn't want me to use high ISO's they wouldn't have put it there for me to use. :D

More pictures to come soon and great stuff in this thread!

I agree with Mark. Especially once you get rid of the chromatic noise, the remaining granularity in the photo gives it the feeling of the film grain of yore. If you go one step further and convert to B&W... man we are back in the sixties!

Mark,Canon and we want you to continue posting great photos, high ISO or not... :D

Which one did you get?

If it supports TTL, you don't have to do anything but turn it on really. The Camera and the flash figure out what to do automagically (for the most part..)

Yongnuo YN560 III -

I went to POTN flash and lighting section and printed a whole of stuff to read and follow, only to discover I need a new cartridge which I'm off to buy shortly. Seems I have to do various settings on the flash. One worked out of the cat, so far.
