That's actually a big relief to hear, as I have been trying to get this right every time I see a heron. You're right they do fly fast! Hmm - so I may have to start saving or forget about fast birds in flight.

It certainly takes more work yes. But it's still possible to get some nice shots. Shot with 450D + 55-250mm

I don't know what to say other than simply stunning. The photograph is really sharp but what makes it for me is that it's carrying what looks likely to be nesting material and that give the photo a story which you don't always get with birds in flight.

I would have been really proud to have captured that.
