Heading out to pick up my new Baby! Obviously the talent on this thread inspired me

please share your AI Servo AF settings for BIF and moving subjects!

Heading to the store with a charged battery

Congratulations Will!

Looking forward to some photos in this thread!:D

Thanks guys!

today's 'hands-on' review is favourable for sure. Despite overcast skies I took shots this afternoon of ducks and geese flying by... nothing worth posting - I was testing the various AF permutations...

I'm pretty sure I will be sticking to the "Centre Focus" point vs the other modes, although its possible the Centre AF "Zone" may get some use for closer subjects.... but its rare any of my moving subjects except my dog are 'close' ;)

The 70D's AF is more snappy than the 60D (of course... with its Digic5 & 7D AF system) and 'seems' to focus and lock more quickly (much more testing to do).

I bought a 16gb Sandisk Extreme 80mb/sec card.... it was fun hearing 7fps... :D

It will be fun fine-tuning the C.Fn II AF settings as I previously wrote, namely:
(1)Tracking Sensitivity
(2) Accel./decel. Tracking
(3) AI Servo 1st Image priority
(4) AI Servo 2nd Image Priority

(7) Selec AF Area Selec. Mode
(8) AF area selection method
(9) Orientation linked AF point

Its interesting (and convenient) that the 70D AF syatem menu features are a simplified version of the 5D mkIII system and menu configuration - and the youtube videos I quotes earlier are very helpful and insightful.

Anyways - thanks for the welcome and the inspiration on this thread. I'll post whenever something worthy is caught on my SD card ;-)a

In this post with yellow dandelions it is shown how colorful they can be. But when the flower is dead the dandelion is also beautiful (and often photographed ;) )..

While I lament that I cannot post photos of my son online (by mutual agreement with his mother/my better half on the off chance someone uses his image in a stock photo and we have no control over it), I just wanted to say the low light ability of this camera is amazing. Using ISO 12,800, I was able to get an absolutely adorable photo of him sleeping last night using the nifty fifty wide open (f/1.8) with the only light source a 4W light bulb behind a shade. Sure, it's noisy, but it's one we'll cherish when he gets older.

That's why I bought this camera. More than its blazing speed and the chance to improve my photography technique (which still needs a lot of improvement!), it was to capture the moments. This let me do it pretty much in the dark with a photo I wouldn't feel bad printing and putting in a photo album.

Who needs full frame? We have the 70D!

Wow! What a description! It's like we have seen the photo! :D

In that vein, raise a little bit the luminance slider, it impacts the bokeh!... :p
