Quick question that probably doesn't belong here because it isn't related to a photo. Is there a way to connect a windows 8.1 tablet to the 70d when there isn't a router involved? I know I can connect my android phone and control the camera that way with the android app. I'm wondering whether I can use my windows tablet outside of my home network environment and use the Canon Utility wirelessly. Or do I have to have a router in between the camera and the tablet for wireless control?

So, i probably keep my Tammy for super-effective VC and extra reach and buy non IS 70-200 f/2.8 for indoors and shallow DOF instead. I hope i don“t regret it.

The bar keeps being raised here - I may never post again :-)

Seriously though - great shots people - too many to single individuals out really.

I will post again - but very aware the standard is so high. However, photography for me is about enjoyment, and many shots I take, and enjoy, probably wouldn't meet any technical criteria - but they're my creative endeavour, and I enjoy it :-)

For me to, and mostly it's the journey that's bringing the joy , i see the composition
more clearly now thanks to this forum. Never losing the path to learn and taking
remarks and criticism in a positiv way. 3 years ago i started with the dslr never
expected the passion to be so great behind it.
Thanks to photography i see a lot more in detail.

Drain flies are supposed to be "rampant" from what I'm reading and hard to get rid of in an infestation.

Hardly surprising, because besides these two here, there must have been 50 more of them at it on the compost bin walls and lid!

It was quite dark already, but not dark enough to get the smooth water effect. So I used Cokin 121F ND 8 filter, not the greatest but it will do the job.Exposure time was 1min. 20sec.And that's it,simple as that. :)
But I'm seriously considering getting the Lee filters.

Thanks!
Great egret capture ~ always so graceful flying

I suspect I will typically (80%?) use centre point focus... my tracking ability is reasonable and try keeping it honed tracking ducks and geese as often as I see them - so that when I see a bird of pray or heron, etc - I'll be 'warmed-up'. Of course when you see them on the computer screen - they often 'do not' look like they would be centered in your viewfinder

For myself I don't think I'll use the 19 pt auto selection... too 'auto'.

Centre Zone - I will keep testing.

I think I have all my internal settings in the Menu as I want them.
