In my first outing with the 70D i tried the 9 point center focus without too much luck, i ended up with quite a few shots of in focus wings and out of focus faces or it just missed all together. Strong possibility of operator error seeing as this is my first experience with this style of AF.

Second outing which was brief and not very eventful, i switched to center point only. Focus was fast, not a whole lot of hunting, in fact almost none that i recall and tracked very well. I haven't had the chance to tinker around with the AF sensitivity settings just yet but i'm not sure i'll need to at this point.

Couple of shots from Sunday...

great detail for essentially a full moon.

I only shoot the moon anymore on the nights I can see oodles of stars, meaning the clearest sky

Cheers Will. :)

I see Richard got a similar view from his place too :D (Nice one mate).

Many or all have now seen the new EF-S lens offering: 10-18mm IS STM

http://www.the-digital-picture.com/News/News-Post.aspx?News=9677 (external link)

Yaayyy!!! I finally have a wide angle in my price range! :p    ;)

sadly the 10mm aperture 'begins' at f/4.5..... not very good for star gazing... but interior shots and video on the 70D aught to be nice, and of course landscape. Its light and compact too ~

Unfortunately the moon will be waning, but hopefully weather stays dry enough for some landscape. Regardless a new toy is a new toy :-)
