Really like the House Finch pic. The color, lighting, bokeh, and how the Finch is sitting inside of a natural frame of sorts, all elements are very interesting. Good job!

If it,s the limit in your focal lenght i would choose a other lens to capture the whole scene. Or 2 camera,s one tele and one wide. A camera is a tool for learning how to see without a camera.

IT did come with a white transfer cable. I'm gathering all of my original 60D box items and came across video cables and I don't see such cables in with my 70D... this is from the B&H web site | Canon EOS | and some canon lenses

At the moment, I'm following the recommendations in David Busch's 70D book. I also try to keep my shutter speeds up there for birds in flight. I try to keep it at 1250 as well. I tend to shoot in AV but I'm comfortable with manual as well. I find that AV works well for me most of the time. I also use evaluative metering. Aperture: f/8 most of the time, but we have lots of bright sunlight here so ymmv. I need to learn how to use back button focusing. I have read a bit about it but haven't taken the time to set it up and get comfortable with it. I use IS mode 1 as well. I've played around with the center zone AF but sort of use center point most of the time. I don't use auto ISO. I set the ISO where it needs to be for the environment in which I'm shooting. I turn off all the options for in camera processing in Menu 4. C.Fn II: autofocus. 1: Tracking sensitivity: +1. Busch suggests this setting for BIF. 2: #1: center 3. AI servo 1st image priority: I choose "center" because Busch says to the right might slow your shot down just enough that you might miss BIF photographs. 4. Center 6. Continue focus search. 7. I allow all AF modes though I mostly use center point as I noted above. I not married to these settings, obviously. Over time, I may make adjustments as necessary. So that's my less than 2 cents. I use auto ISO a lot because with BIF you change rapidly from light situations A camera is a tool for learning how to see without a camera.

I see you like the macro's a lot. good stuff. Indeed! Yes, ik like shooting macro. But the main reason is that I can shoot macro in my garden and do that sometimes for a few minutes because I don't have a lot of time to go out at the moment. But..in june I'll be visiting Italy and I 'll be shooting less macro! Phoenixkh wrote in post #16903484 Will and Lukas, I also try to keep my shutter speeds up there for birds in flight. So when you are shooting BIF you use the TV mode (to be able to set the shutter at 1250), and for everything else the AV mode? Or do you use mainly AV and set the AV to a value that is according to the shutter speed of 1250? ---------------
