Batteries for 70D:

Hey - I noticed a few days ago that the battery charger that comes with the 70D - would not charge one of my 3rd party batteries.... so - since I was selling my 60D and accessories - I swapped the new charger for the 60D charger

just today I popped that 3rd party battery into my 70D and it would not give power to my 70D - but my 60D has been fine with it

Anyone with 3rd party batteries - please try charging and using them in your 70D and let me know if they are compatible.

Glad I have 2 genuine ones to use

yeah its my sterlingtek that is not recognized in my 70D - nor would the 70D charger accept it... HMM!

glad yours works - if I hear of anyone elses Sterlingtek that does work - then I will likely get another

Long time lurker here. I just bought the 70d to replace my 60d also. The older third party batteries won't register or show battery level on the 70d, but supposedly do work, you just don't get a power indication.

I bought just bought the newest Wasabi batteries on Amazon and they work fine in the 70d (the old ones don't). I'm also using the old charger from my 60d.

My 70D would not power on. Did you keep the older 60D charger for my same reason?

Its good to know that some batteries are compatible. I prefer Sterlingtek. My Photix began bleeding power about a yr after getting it.

Thanks Archie :-)

This is a very interesting image - quite illusory in some ways. Is it a reversed reflection? Or upside down might be more accurate - very cool anyway!
