I've never been to an airshow :( Looks very impressive, great captures.
Working on diffusing my flash. Paul gave me some times too; between all of you I'll slowly improve, rate of advancement commensurate with my age :)

I'm not 'quite' at a point of frustration... but I have yet to be pleased with a sharp image from my 70-300L IS on my 70D...

With my 60D - getting sharp shots was easy... so I have more testig to do.

Anyone know of a good MA test sheet on the web that I could print off?

anyways, about to use a ruler and see what I can do...

Cooper just got to our house yesterday. I would welcome comments. I shot at f/8 but the back part of his face and chin are soft. I used my 70-300L. I seldom do close ups of anything but flowers so I could use advice: f/11?

Question.... It is possible that I was at the hairy edge of minimum focus distance. Would that do it? I might have answered my own question. I was way closer than 3.9 ft./1.2 meters.

Will, I ended up ordering Team Speed's focus chart ($15 US): https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1137351

I know how anxious you are... so if you can print one out and make it rigid, it will be faster, of course. (OK, I don't know, for sure, how anxious you are.... but I can put myself there all too easily.)

Thanks folks!
the only thing I know for sure is that (-10) is better than (+10) [I tried extremes]

so best focus seems to lie with (-5) and (0)

I'll try the free chart and if need be - I'll try Teamspeed's

thanks again

Nice, Rose! Ik like the first one best! The plane adds something extra to the picture!

Thanks Bas :-) I was lucky to catch it - could see it but was using the 2 second delay on the timer. Keep forgetting that I can use the EOS app on my smart phone to trigger the shutter.

Can't help with the focus issues but what a beautiful cat! I like the shot too - the way his eyes have it :-)

I like the idea of posting SOOC and preferably with the 18-55 or 18-135 IS STM lens :) so I can compare rather than wonder how much PP was done or trying to compare with a lens I Don't have.

I love all the pics and contributions to this thread and do not mean to detract...if I should start a specific thread, I can, just let me know.
