Came across a deal on the 24mm 2.8 STM lens last week....thought I'd try it out the other night. First shot with it...5000 ISO.
Los Lobos at City Winery, NYC...great musicians...great band.

Thanks. Were they shot at full reach? What aperture?

No most of them were on 400 mm, i always tend to stay in the sweetspot of the lens .
To fill the frame/bird as sharp as possible overall, i shoot them at f8 to f11. Boost the ISO up to 400 to get
the right shutterspeed 1/200 sec

This one was taken at full reach 500 mm, f8-1/200 sec iso 320.

Little processing with Faststone nothing more.

Hi all and Merry Christmas from a warm, sunny NZ. I'm not getting the notifications even although I've ticked the box top left. Anyone know why? Thanks.

Thanks again. I often see comments about that lens being not so hot. But then I also see a lot of incredible images taken with it.

Yours are among them to say the least.

Rick

Thx, you have to accept it,s limitations and work around that, then it becomes your friend.
Most people tend to make one shot to be the lucky one. With those kind of lenses you have
to take several shot,s to balance the outcome.
