I think I finally got focus on the eyes for the first time in my life.

Anyone have experience with converting a camera to infrared? I've been using a Hoya 72R filter, which works fine if you can use a long exposure (like the image below) but really limits the kind of images you can get. No way I'd convert my 70D, but I've got another body that doesn't see much use that I would consider converting.]

From what I remember about IR cameras, or the Canons are least, when they do the conversion, they adjust the focus
to a 50mm F1.8 lens. Unless the camera has MFA, your other lenses probably won't focus correctly.

I have a long list of lenses. A couple years back I bought a D60 (yes, a D60) that was made into and IR camera.
The only lens that would somewhat work with that camera was a Tamron 18-200.
None of my other lenses would focus to where I could use the photo.

Another thing I remember reading was to buy a point and shoot and convert it.
If you think about it, it makes sense. The lens will be tuned with the camera. (of course)
YMMV, but these are some of things I remember when I was playing with IR.

Grounds for Sculpture! I have a similar shot. Love that place. Shooting an engagement there this Sunday

Very nice! Yea, I enjoy going there a lot. Just curious but do you know the background of that sculpture?

Great to see a local on here!

I agree my 70D does what I need it to, and splendidly. But what I find with the XXD line (60D/70D) is that the Rebel line is always catching up to them... and if the newest pics are accurate - the new Rebel looks pretty cool. Rebels got the flippy screen from the 60D, then the 60D AF system, now the new Rebels looks to be getting the upper LCD and 70D's Sensor and back wheel...
Again I am pleased with the 70D, just wish there was a farther spread of features between it and the Rebel line ;-)a

I have to say, this camera is constantly convincing me that it has everything i need - fast accurate and sufficient AF system for tracking, great IQ/ISO performance (with 1.6 crop factor), liveview dual AF focusing, which is very useful, only my 24-70L is very poor regarding sharpness performance on 70D.

I have to admit I was close to sell my 70D, because my 5dmkII suddenly died and i was 99% ready to buy 5dmkIII.. instead i kept my 70D and bought 5Dc - best decision i could make:)

5Dc is working with 24-70L no issues at all, all pictures are sharp as should be, weird thing is, while i had to use MFA on my 70D, my 5dc is focusing right out of the box, i saved over 2000$ on camera. Don´t know why, but i really like pictures from 5Dc more than from 5DmkII.

I also tried 7D mk II, but couldn´t justify the price, for me, it´s absolute overkill - 70D IMHO works great even without those fancy additional AF points, but i like f/8 AF and improved weather sealing though.

7Dmk II gripped | 5Dc | 100-400L IS II | 55-250 IS STM | 100L f/2.8 IS Macro | 15-85 IS | 50 f/1.8 STM |

Nice shot! As a pet photographer, fast shutter and quick AF (and good light!) are my best friends... and luck ;-)a
