Has to Bee nature's way sometimes...

Not every bee makes it. Nature has it's way.

The wife sent me a text saying she had found a wasp(!) that was really really docile on a towel on the washing line, and she could see the pollen on it, so she put it in a tub for me to photograph when I got home from work...

So when I got home a short while later, I looked and instantly realised why it was docile, and that the pollen really was. In fact, it was already dead, and the "pollen" was of course, why...

Excellent shots Paul ~ but just so I understand, are those mites or something feeding on the wasp?

I watched them on the Liveview screen at x10 mag.. They are mites, and they are feasting on the bee.

This is my rescue spider (the one I put at the door end of the outhouse, the opposite end to the resident already there!) and she is still on guard duty.

Now, she is just 6 inches from the ground and her rather expansive web stretches to almost ground level, but she lives in a little tuck of old newspaper just above the web.

Had to rest the camera on a bean bag on a piece of wood to get to her, and she did occasionally in the few minutes, look a little peeved that I was interrupting her evening!
