A short trip south to the Wairarapa to visit family and go to a seminar on dementia at Te Omanga Hospice.

On the way home a derelict house a few kms down the road. Will go back with a longer lens sometime. Didn't hop over the fence as there's people living very close, and also cattle in the paddock, and they scare me :-)

Two treatments of the same image.

I think this emphasises the dereliction and abandonment.

Miss a few days on my favorite thread and wooooaaah so much good stuff.
And Rose, you know I love derelicts! Only thing I'd do with the second is straighten it a tad. If you're like me you
look and wonder at the lives lived there.
Simon you are quite the portrait artist! Perfect and the guy reminds me of the actor in 'Fury Roa' Mad Max movie. Just a perfect ( I did mention that before didn't I) portrait.
Paul what an ugly worm! But a fantastic capture. You bee entering the flower it over the top beautiful.
Immaculens---color me purple=jealous of the cormorant BIF; I've never gotten a decent one.
I could go on and on....

I'm having a lot of trouble straightening images in LR5 - can't seem to get it right! And yes I know you love derelicts :-) I was talking to my dog walking friend this evening, and she said people have recently lived in this house!!!

On my way south Thursday I stopped to take these. I grew up in a small town of about 1500 people more or less one third from left of this image and two thirds up. You can sort of see roofs of houses. At the time it was a run down town, and becoming a bit ghost town-like. Young people needed to leave to get training and work. Then in the seventies some people decided the soil and climate were perfect for grape growing, and now it is a top winery region, which has transformed the town. Hopefully next time I am down, it will be warmer and I'll do a walk around of the township.

The Ruamahaunga river rises in the hills some way back, and winds down to the sea through this valley. There is quite a lot of dairying in the area.
