Keyan,

It just shows my ignorance of how the 70D live view works. And I totally forgot about the touch screen. Since my wife got her SL1, I've come to realize the touch screen isn't just a gimmick.

No, it's not a gimmick at all, it is an incredible tool and I am totally spoiled by it.

Lbsimon, sorry, I did not know that you don't have the câmera, english is not my native language, sometimes my words does not mean what I'm trying to explain. My apologies.

A sugestion, you can use DPP to convert RAW files, I believe that has the same or almost the same results from camera.

I've created a folder in Dropbox with the last version of Canon EOS Disc and a lot of RAW files from 70D, I hope this can help those who don't have the camera yet.

There is also a sample movie and another folder inside called "Atibaia (it's city in São Paulo) - Testes (tests - very similar word in portuguese) ;)

One more time, sorry about my poor language folks, I hope you enjoy. Best wishes from Brazil!

well it burns power pretty quickly... that is the case with any LV though... there are usually stats on how many shots you get from a full charge but also additional stats on how many shots if you use LV...

I'd say LV is punishing on battery life....but that's what battery grips are for! Seriously though you can judiciously use this feature and still get lots of shots in.
I've been using LV Sony style in the Nex and A77 for a while; 300ish shots was the norm. When I added a Canon 6D it seemed like the battery lasted forever as in why even turn it off! I think Canon has the best of both worlds-use it if you want and in many places it's just nice to have.

Armando,

This is really funny - English is not my native language either, and it looks like I did not convey my message correctly!

Yes, I do have the 70D. But I always shoot raw, but I just did not have time yet to do any comparisons between raw and hoped that somebody already had.

In any way, thanks for trying to help, I appreciate it.

OT: I needed to go to Sao Paulo just a month ago, but I needed to go "tomorrow", while the Brazilian consulate would not guarantee a visa faster than in two weeks. I had to cancel. :-(

I'll try make the test ASAP between RAW and JPG, JPG SOOC and RAW converted in DPP.

Of course your english is a lot better then mine... but you live in the USA!!! :p Great opportunity to improve yours skills!

There is some "tension" between USA anda Brazil in this days, something about private information from our government and CIA / NSA...

Thanks Steve.

If the image needs sharpening, I use a high pass filter on a separate layer, and change the layer blend to overlay, then reduce the opacity as required, Sometimes, it needs the saturation dropping a touch too. If that brings in a touch of noise, then a quick touch of NR cures that.

For web, I reduce the image size to 1024pix, and that will soften it up, so I run a smidge of unsharp mask for that before posting.

But yes, the lens is pretty sharp up to f/11 before a hint of diffraction starts.

Paul.

Been too busy for much shooting this week, but I did grab this on the way to work one morning, one of those perfect Seattle fall mornings:
