LOL, I just got the thing on the camera today. It was worth it. Focus is silent, no more moving and rotating front element, the whole rig is stupid light all put together. Focus is noticeably slower than my 17-55, but it is smooth and silent. Also has the new pinch style lens cap.

That is silly Will on the shipping. Especially since it is free in the CONUS.

I'm glad you were able to get that 18-55 STM deal... I'll keep an eye out for that price again...

I presume the question addressed to me.

AF is good, no problems. I can even track seagulls with about 80-85% keeper rate at 600mm in AI Servo.

The other day I combined my 1.4x and 2x TCs and used live AF just for the heck of it. IQ takes a bigger hit, and I'd probably never use that combination, but AF was fast and no hunting :)

At Gabe, that is a killer set-up! Hard to believe the quality of a tc on a zoom lens. Would have been unheard of a few years back. Beautiful shots. Would love to be able to afford that lens. Although the Canon 200-400 looks fantastic too. Definitely can't afford that one.
