Can DPP create the camera color corrected/sharpened JPEG from RAW the same way that the camera can create it if I am only shooting RAW not RAW + JPEG?

Translate to: If I shoot RAW and I have a bunch of "family photos" that I just want the most basic JPEG without spending hours in PP, will DPP give me the "same" JPEG output file that the camera would? But still, of course, give me the flexibility of shooting RAW in case I wanted to do custom PP in LR or PS? The "same" is defined as colors, contrast, sharpness etc.

Currently, I shoot RAW + JPEG and just post the JPEGs for family viewing sans PP because they aren't "special." But I find that my buffer gets full fast since I am shooting a T3i and this mode can only fit 3 shots in the buffer at once. I used to just shoot JPEG but I can honestly say that I have missed out on some real winners by only shooting in this mode and I want to lessen/mitigate that. I know you can extract the JPEG from the RAW, but the file is 1/4 the size (8MB JPEG from camera to 2MB JPEG for the extracted copy) and there is a noticeable difference. Hence, why I'd rather not extract the JPEG from RAW if I don't have to..

Lastly, I'd just like to say that I've been really hit or miss with my PP since I am fairly new at it and have sometimes liked the cameras JPEG version over my PP version. And I have yet to master or even come close to being proficient at this skill. Therefore, I cannot rely on my skills to produce a good picture that isn't over processed, as it were...

So it boils down to this.. Can I get what the camera would produce from the RAW file with DPP for general shots when shooting RAW only or must I continue to shoot RAW + JPEG? (Eventually my "chops" will improve, I know...)

Thanks...

Not only does DPP use all the same algorithms and procedures that the camera does, it also defaults to however you had the camera set up at the time of the shot. There is no need for Raw + Jpg when by doing nothing other than clicking 'Convert and Save' you get the same Jpg.

The cool thing about DPP is that it uses the jpeg settings as the "starting point", but with Raw you then have the latitude to "mess with" things, going beyond the adjustments you could do with a jpeg.

DPP is great as a "starting kit" for those entering into Raw shooting/processing!
