I really like this image, but I am distracted by the partial element of the ferry at the top. Did you consider cropping it out?

Canon 50mm 1.8 STM, both shots ISO 1600, f2.0, 1/100. This lens does hunt a bit in low light, but in general any faults in photographs with it are my fault, not the lens! I'm tempted by the Sigma ART but I don't think I've outgrown the little Canon yet. It's still better at photography than I am :-D

Completely different kind of shot but I think it shows why, despite being the cheapest lens I own, the Canon 50mm 1.8 STM is still my most used. It just gets the job done for me :-)

Hi
I'm new to this forum, but not new to photography. I'm trying to "get into it" again by taking pictures of weavers in my garden. Normally they show up in the spring, but this season they were busy the whole winter (it is high summer here at the moment).
This was shot with a 1100d and a 55-250 mk ii (not dtm). I'm adding it to this thread because my equipment is not the latest and greatest but I'm hoping for constructive critique too.

The 55-250 II is not a bad lens for the money.
Sure, it's not very bright or fast, but if you don't need either there's nothing wrong with saving a bunch of money and not buying a 70-200.

This image I took as an example for my camera group to take photos on the subject of "Portals". As always hand-held

I'm very satisfied with my 18-55 stm, I cannot see why I will replace it with a more expensive lens

I co-manage a photography group and I am always trying to impress upon them that they can get acceptable images without having to splash out on the latest and greatest gear. Hence using a relatively old camera and a modest lens.

I would like to think the photo makes my point.
