Dmitriy wrote in post #16240922 For a quite some time it doesn't, at least in slr photo-cameras. Must be something else. Color negative films have about 14 stops of dynamic range, B&W 16 to 18, depending on the film. My 5D mark II has about 10 stops and my Fuji XE-1 has about 11 stops. The digital kings at the moment are the Nikon D600 and D800 with about 12 stops. "Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

I don't think it is that many for 35mm color film for SLR cameras. I'm guessing around 7-stop latitude. Let's find out. My Stock Photography

Kodak Portra has 14 stops of dynamic range. You're thinking of slide film, which is typically in the 7 to 8 stops of dynamic range (which is different than latitude). "Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.
