Hey fellow Canon lens owners...

I have the opportunity to buy a mint condition 24mm TS-E (version 1) lens from someone local, at a price around $750. This seems pretty good considering the condition of the lens and it's capabilities.

Can you provide any advise on whether this is a sound purchase, and if there are any key items to look for on these older TS-E lenses?

Thanks so much!

-Brandon

If it was mint for that price, I would seriously consider it. I do want to play around with TS, but refuse to pay over $1K for a lens like that.

I believe you have to check the knobs still work properly, I've heard some of the threads can strip?

Hell ya
I don't think most people realize the incredible advantage of the shift function when shooting architectural subjects, let alone the creativity available with the tilt. A lot of CA is easily handled in post. Now, the mkII version is simply stunning.

Well version II is over 2K, so I don't think that will be in my price range anytime in the near future. Sounds like the other feedback is generally positive for the purchase. I'll make sure to inspect the lens thoroughly tomorrow.

If its OK buy it, I had the Mk1 before I got the Mk2.The Mk2 is better but not $1300 better IMO unless you earn your living with it and can offset the cost against tax
