Ok, so I realize normally I would be pretty close to my umbrella/softbox

but since I spent 300 on a new 430ex II and will cost another 120 or so (to make it wireless) or like 85 to get a decent size cable (3ft which isn't really decent, but I actually have a cheaper one that was like $30 and it works well,) but the cable limits my mobility by a lot.

Is it better to just buy a 580ex at this point so I can have the mobility of moving around and not being on a leash?

I normally use my own lighting rigs indoors, and have a power converter from my car so I can bring them outside as well, but recently bought a flash since I think it would be better suiting (and to use it during the day light to get rid of certain shadows etc)

I will be sticking with only 1, so I don't really need multiple flashes but

I'm wondering if I should return it all while I can and just spend the extra to get the wireless?

/edit

I did find an off brand 10m cable that is around 65 usd

I believe that may be good enough!

Unless someone knows of a premade cable that is longer than about 6 ft or so

the 430EXII and the 580EXII can only be made wireless by purchasing a wireless trigger. I'm using my 430EX off-camera with a wireless trigger setup that cost me $85.

why would you spend so much for a cable???

If you spend 500 on a 580 you will be stuck keeping it on camera. I would get some triggers like the 622c triggers. For $100 you will get 2 of them and they will do HSS and ETTL. Then if you get a 580 you can use it off camera with the triggers and still trigger the 430 off camera.

It seems like you have found a solution, but just for future reference, the 600EX also is not wireless without adding the STE3-RT to the top of your camera...or some other type of wireless trigger. When the 600EX-RT was first released, I was under the impression that my 5D3 or other newer cameras would be able to send a radio signal without any added equipment....sadly not the case.
