As long as amazon is the seller, you will get a USA warranties item.

^^ Exactly this. This information is spot on.

I have a Prime account at Amazon too and have bought a few lenses and gear from them. Everything has arrived with standard US warranty and registration cards. When I combine the Prime shipping and rewards from my credit card it becomes difficult to shop at stores like B&H or Adorama.

However, Amazon is now charging sales tax to a lot more states than they previously have in the past. So if you happen to live in a state that Amazon charges sales tax to but B&H does not, your savings with B&H might outweigh free 2 day shipping with prime. Especially considering that B&H ships quickly as we'll.

Any body or lens I bought through amazon has been US version. Just make sure to watch for third party sellers on Amazon, that's all. Buy directly through them.

Guess I misunderstood or the person who told me the information was mistaken. Was just under the impression the glass and quality was made differently, rather than it just being for warranty and things along that line.

The person is a moron if they told you this.

Everyone knows the UK gets the best, sharpest lenses

I order from amazon all the time. Have never had any problems whatsoever and their customer service is always amazing. Ordering from amazon is basically guilt and worry free shopping because their customer service and return policy is so great. I split my purchases between them and B&h, depending on pricing, availability, etc. I have Amazon prime (free 2 day shipping) and I live in PA, so both B&H and Amazon tend to arrive at my door 2-3 days after hitting the "submit order" button :D

I planned on purchasing the 70-200mm F/4L from BH Photo, but remembered I have a prime account on Amazon which gives me free two day shipping (obviously faster than BH Photo unless I want to spend an extra $50 or so).

I've read many times the USA lenses are better than Imported, but I don't recall Amazon offering any of that information. Does anyone know if Amazon sells USA lenses or if they are Imported?

Thanks!

I actually prefer Amazon over any other store. Can't beat Amazon Customer support and Prime shipping.

USA lens are better in a sense that you know Canon will honor the warranty service if needed withing the time period.

I bought my 24-105 through Amazon. It arrived with a Canon USA warranty which is what you want. Amazon wasn't the seller but it was "fulfilled by Amazon" and I got it in a couple of days with my Prime account.

My 85 1.8 lens came in an un-padded jostling around with a kid's bicycle helmet that I had also purchased.

i order camera gear from BH since usually standard shipping is free for most items i buy and i dont get charged tax living in NJ. usually free shipping takes 2-3 days to get to me. i have a prime account that i use alot but less now for electronics since they now charge tax for NJ (a few months now). both always come very well packaged. customer service from amazon is top notch though... cant say the same for BH

About a year ago I had a very time sensitive project that allowed me 4 days to acquire, a lot of gear, test, return if necessary and receive overnight the replacements and then hit the road.

I ordered a couple of 1DX's, Sigmonster 300-800 f/5.6, legs, gunsight finders, brackets, CF's, Canon 28-300L IS, legs, gimbal heads, batteries, chargers, LowePro Trekker II's etc. etc.

No local dealers (independant or any of the big chains (Samys, Calumet, Glazers, etc.) could come close to getting me what I specifically wanted in my time frame. The Canon rep couldn't do it either for the Canon gear. So I decided to try using my Amazon Prime account.

The order came to around $31K USD.

Best on line experience I've ever had. Better than B&H (no holiday issues), Adorama, Beach, JR...etc. etc.

*Everything* arrived on time or before expected time. A couple of returns based on testing failure arrived overnight on time for my project.

*All* gear was USA warrantied. No grey market international warranty cards.

Amazon called me very soon upon placement and payment of my order to hook me up with a "Camera Concierge" who shepherded my order and he pro-actively headed off any shipping issues with cancelations and re-orders via other vendors to address the issues based on my timeline.

Now, YMMV and most folks don't place an total order like that. But...based on that experience and many others I've had with Amazon...

I'd say it's a safe bet.

PM me if you want more details.:D

Lotsa stuff, running outta room and a wife...I keep looking at her and wondering???

Amazon is amazing. Any issues and they will be there to help you out. I'm also a prime member and love it. I just wished I became a Prime member sooner. The annual fee was pretty much equal usually within a month or two after my renewal date.

I ordered a YN568exii flash through Amazon for my 1ds miii. Unfortunately the 1ds miii and the YN568EXII don't play nice together so the flash had to be returned.

The return couldn't have gone smoother or quicker using Amazons return policy. I was provided with a prepaid shipping label and was refunded the full amount plus shipping costs within 48hrs.

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.
