I'm guessing this is probably a hardware issue, but just in case I thought I'd see if anyone had anything I could try.

My wife's ELPH 100 HS has a completely blank LCD in all modes. It takes pictures and zooms, etc. The LCD is just black like it's not powering on.

At risk of asking the obvious, but have you tried pushing the "DISP" button through a cycle of 3-4 presses? It shouldn't, based on the manual, give you a black screen at any point in there, but one never knows. Does it play back images, just not show the live view, or is it completely black regardless of what you're doing? If the latter, then if you're lucky there's a bad connection to the LCD; if not, there's a problem with one of the ICs (either the LCD proper, or the controller).

Yeah, I tried that.

No LCD in ANY shooting mode, playback or startup. That's why I fear it is a dead LCD. It's long out of warranty, so maybe I'll try opening it up and see if I can see any loose cables. It recently was left on a bathroom counter for a few days, so I think perhaps we might have a moisture or humidity issue.
