Canon factory service - received dirty lens

My 35L has been to Canon's factory center last week, it came back extremely dirty. There is glue like (most likely sealant) around the lens elements and not one spot but 3.

That being said, the lens came back extremely sharp, they have done a phenomenal job with it in terms of optical quality.

The stuff there doesn't really bother me that much except that a) I'm worried in extremely hot weather it may leak or move around and b) it will kill the resale value of the lens. Do you think I should send it back?

My experience with this factory center has been extremely positive over the course of years. They usually do a very good job which is why I am not going to mention which one it is by name. My purpose is not to give anyone bad rep.

Thanks.

Contact them and have them clean it. They will send prepaid overnight label usually.

sounds like the tech knows his stuff but is a slob. i'd probably just keep the lens but if you aren't happy by all means send it back.

Another vote for sending it back. That's just poor QC.

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

I'd send it back. I'm sure they'd clean it up no problem if it's that noticeable. You might as well be 100% happy - I'm sure they'd want you to be so you might as well ask.
