I don't think the angle in the first one works for it. I found myself tilting my head. It works well in the second though.

I also found that her hands get a bit lost against her chest in the first, making it look like she has some strange rib deformity if I just see it out of the corner of my eye. Perhaps if you had the light a bit more directional you'd be able to create some tonal differences to avoid that.

I agree that the angle of the first one does not work well, at least for me it doesn't.

thanks for the input. i was trying to go for something different (pose wise) than what i normally see but it looks like it didnt work. i suck when it comes to lighting. i really need to practice with that. were hoping to get some more photos going in a few weeks again up near Red Rock.

Surely tilting to head at an angle is part of yoga ??

Her eyes in the second make you look to her feet and back to her eyes again. Being so close make her feet look out of proportion.

Still better than I could do and a re-think might do it .... She looks good in the shots.

oops. i think i may have worded that wrong. what i meant was trying to get a different perspective of the pose. my bad. :) this shoot really motivated me though to just get out there and start taking more pictures.

Yeah the angle didn't work for me either. I have to tilt my head and it feels like she is going to slide off the frame.

This is also somewhat subjective but I'm not a fan of using wider angle lenses for portraits. You used a 24mm for these pictures and it gives some perspective distortion. It looks kind of artsy in #2 but then again it also makes her hands and feet look pretty big.

Second one works better for me as well. Plus with the bricks and textures and Tats, I think BW works better than Color and I like how the bricks lead outta the picture in the second.

The first one doesn't work. I think a photo doesn't work is when the viewers have to tilt their head then the angle is not right.

The second one though is a great photo. Very different
