Canon DSLR Speed Challenge #297

F/8

I am looking for your submissions shot at an aperture of F/8, now, this is going to open up your composition to contain multiple elements to be presented. Make everything in the frame count. Otherwise, that's it! I'm looking forward to your different interpretations on the subject. Submission, EXIF and photograph name are all that is needed. Simply follow the below posted rules, and let your submission speak for itself. Do not be afraid to push the envelope; get creative and have fun.

One more thing; do not forget to include the photograph's name in the message subject line of your post.

This challenge begins when posted, and will end at 10:00 p.m. Pacific time Wednesday, 4 September 2013. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

Standard Rules apply:
Photo Submissions:

1. Camera - Any Canon DSLR Camera
2. Time - any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size - Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post-Processing - do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting - * ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.
* Photo Name in the message subject line.* Camera model & lens used.* Notes -- post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
6. Commenting - No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7.
Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
8.
Have questions, PM me.
9. Have FUN!

One challenge every week, on the following schedule:

* New Topic - After winner is declared.
* Posting Starts - Right after topic is announced.
* Posting Ends - 10:00 p.m. Pacific Time Wednesday, 4 September 2013.
* Winner from this competition decides the theme of the next one (and judges it for a winner) after this competition is closed.

Thank you all for participating in this challenge. I'm wiped out due to a long day at work, so I'm just going to announce the winner now, and post my comments on all submissions tomorrow evening.

Honorable mention: teekay

Winner: kbColorado

Once again, thanks for all the great submissions. Take it away kb.

Good choice. That horse practically jumps off the screen. Very cool shot. Well done, kb.

Nice shots everyone. There's a lesson to be learned here.

Cheers, kb, nicely done. Fun topic, Jason.

As timing would have it, my neighbor placed some construction waste to the curb a few days before this challenge. I thought there might be something to the subject so with camera in hand, I struggled to get just the right perspective of this lumber. I wanted to get a broad enough DoF as well as compress the overall image. Shooting was done in brilliant morning light, but that was what I wanted, in order to get those contrasting black shadows. I guess the bottom-line question is, does the abstract-like image work? I've struggled with it and thought this challenge might substantiate it, one way or the other. What do you think? I've also been considering a tighter landscape crop.

Congratulations, kb - definitely a winning shot - and thanks for the hon.mention, Jason.

M-Six, that was a fine job of panning to catch that plane at 1/160!

Thanks, teekay. Was easy with the 70-200 2.8 IS in IS-mode 2.

Thanks Jason for the nod and the interesting topic this time around. The new challenge is up and this week's subject is an offshoot of this week's f/8. Thanks for the kind words to Kevan, teekay and M_Six.
