Well I want to upgrade my very old and trusty Trinitron Dell P991 yeah a CRT :o still works and give me very accurate colors while printing. But it's time to clear up the space..

So I'm thinking on getting one of this monitors.

(IPS Panel with tempered glass)

(PLS Panel)

I have read a lot on this Korean monitors and almost everybody is happy. So I'm 80% convinced to get one of those

Or should I stick with a known brand with the Dell U2412

Which one of those monitors you think could match (or beat) the color reproduction I'm getting of the old CRT ?

Thanks

I recommend the Dell Ultrasharp, which is also an IPS. I've had mine for many years now and still love it. I never forget when I switched over... worlds and worlds better.

If you need accurate color (and not many people need it super accurate) go with what's known to be good: Eizo and NEC. Dell IPS are good enough for most people as well, including myself, calibrated of course.

If you want cheap and probably good enough then sure, try the Korean brand.

Nahh I'm not pro to justify the price of a Nec or Eizo, this is jut a hobby. I was looking for the Korean brand because is the cheap way to have a 27" 2560x1440. But I have seen that the Dell 2412 sometimes goes to a very good discount price. So maybe should wait until a very good deal on that one or stretch for a 2713 on special.

BTW: Do you know how the color of the 2412 will be compared to my actual dell P991 CRT, as mentioned before this one is giving me pretty accurate prints, probably is around 95% because sometimes the brightnes is a bit off, I own the pantone huey pro calibrator.

The LCD probably won't be quite as good as the CRT, but it'll be close enough for most things. Check your calibrator works with an IPS LED screen, I had to switch to a Spyder 4 (external link) for my Dell, the old DTP94 wasn't cutting it.
