Does this Canon Shutter release have the ability to be programmed to hold the shutter for e.g. 4 seconds consecutively for 10minutes, then after that hold the shutter for 2 seconds?

Rich, I have this remote and it simply duplicates the on camera shutter button. There is no programmable functions. It just allows you to reduce camera shake by moving the shutter button off camera.

Yeah, I know what a shutter release does do

Does anyone know of one that is programmable?

Even the intervalometer (TC-80N3) type controllers are not as programmable as you want.

Depending on your camera, there are probably some remote control apps for smartphones that might do what you want. There's a piece of software for your laptop called "BackyardEOS". It's designed for astrophotography, but it probably does what you need (but it's not free). There might be others like it, as well. You could also look into installing Magic Lantern on your camera. Its intervalometer functions might be that programmable.

Best of luck..

Your second post asks the question you did not ask in your first, which generated the completely appropriate reply quoted.

B & H and Adorama have several different options available here in the U.S. There must be a vendor in your country that handles similar products. You just need to decide how deep your pocket may need to be.....

You want to program the release for one shutter speed for several shots over a set period of time, and then change to another shutter speed? None available that I've ever seen; like gmikol said, you need to look at some of the software-based solutions for that.

What are you trying to do? Bulb Ramping? Day to Night?

Nowt to do with timelapse photography, its just an event that involves a lot of fireworks after a certain time, a lot more goes off hence I need to make the shutter speed go a bit faster

For what you are doing, the shutter speed should not change, the duration between shots would change.

If you change your shutter speed, you will also have to change either your ISO or Aperture.

My suggestion is to stick with one setting and just set it up to take twice as many photos in the beginning, knowing that you wil probably be throwing away half of them.

Make sure you get a remote with the right connector for your camera. The one you linked to is for Rebel cameras and will not work with either camera that you show in your profile.

Not really, I kept them the same, it depends on the amount of light, I've already done this, the reason for this thread is that I want to do something else while this is going on i.e. edit photos while its being downloaded to computer
