Hey POTN,

I've recently pulled the trigger on a Black Avenger A2030DC Kit, and I'm now trying to figure out how I can attach my Elinchrom Ranger S Head to the Boom arm Grip thingy (not sure what it's called, its the part in the red circle in the following image)

IMAGE: http://www.steadypro.com.my/shoppingcart/product_images/e/Manfrotto_Avenger_D520_40inch_Extension_Arm__78441.jpg

Do I need the following adapter to make this possible?

As a workaround, I've attached the Ranger S head to the other end of the boom stick pole, but I'm not sure whether this is the safest option.

Any assistance would be appreciated, as I would like to have this shipped to be asap.

Thanks!

- v.

Not necessarily..... When I use to have C-Stands, I used the "pole" side of the arm. That way, I didn't have to spend additional money for stud to use it on the "knuckle" side of the arm. Now I used the Manfrotto 420 Combo Stands - Yes, I know, slightly different, but it works for me. However, I would suggest the Avenger Drop Pin. It will make it easier to attach a BD or even a small to medium sized soft box to the C-Stand when it's positioned in an overhead or "ButterFly Light Pattern" situation. Also, by using the "pole" side of the arm, you can put a sandbag on the other side and the knuckle will allow a place for the sandbag to rest, again, especially in an overhead lighting situation. Best of Luck to you, you'll LOVE your C-Stand.....

Thank you for your responses.

My mind is finally at rest knowing that I'm not the only one who mounts it on the 'pole' part of the boom :)

I probably won't go for the drop pin, given that I'll be primarily be using them for location shoots. Too much time to set up maybe?

I use a Matthews Knuckle Head PN 540024 makes positing the light a lot easier.
