Not sure how many birthdays she has left. Average for the breed is only 11-12. I have a 15 year old double Merle, she sleeps a lot now but she has had a hard last nine months, she has had four surgeries since last December, 3 were to remove Cancers. My Aussie boy unfortunately died back in April at just about 13 years old I think, I got him as a stray so the Vets best guess is all I had.

Sorry to hear about your boy, few things hurt as bad as the loss of a good dog. We had a Aussie/Border Collie mix (Dingo) that was a year younger than Sheila, but he crossed the bridge two years ago. We had a Aussie/Border Collie mix (Dingo) that was a year younger than Sheila, but he crossed the bridge two years ago. Sheila manages about 18 hours of snooze, nap, and sleep a day. I think she may be the laziest Aussie ever. When she is awake on a good day though you’d never guess her to be that old. Has lost a few teeth, eyes are getting a little hazy, has had a few bouts of canine vertigo but just keeps chugging along. About the only time she gives it away is being a bit stiff in the mornings and lately she has taken to sitting very gently and purposefully before laying down in the afternoons/evenings. We got Sheila when she was 6 weeks old, pretty sure she will be last pup. When her time comes I know I will be a wreck, best dog I’ve ever had and there have been several over my 58 years. My boy had that vestibular disease last summer, really scared me, I thought he had a stroke. He was a very good dog, really nice disposition.
