I hope Nikon takes the opportunity to do minor upgrades as well. 1/8000 shutter 7fps of the 7100 (instead of 5.5 of the D600) 1 compact flash, 1 SD (instead of 2 SDs) Would be enough for me to pick it up. I'm really excited about this, too. All I want from the D610 is to fix the sensor issue.

They have to dumb-down the D600/610. Just like the 6D is a stripped version of the 5DIII, there's a reason for the 'insanity'. No other way to ensure you continue to sell your best product. If Nikon and Canon did all the upgrades we asked for, they'd sell very little D800s/5DIIIs. The only reason to buy the pro-grades would be for a better AF system. Nearly all else would be be equal. Wasn't that the case with the 5D2 and 1Ds3? Granted, the 1Ds3 had the best AF Canon had at the time, and the 5D2 pretty much lacked an AF system...
