I'm excited about this.

I hope Nikon takes the opportunity to do minor upgrades as well.

1/8000 shutter
7fps of the 7100 (instead of 5.5 of the D600)
1 compact flash, 1 SD (instead of 2 SDs)

Would be enough for me to pick it up.

I'm really excited about this, too. All I want from the D610 is to fix the sensor issue.

They have to dumb-down the D600/610. Just like the 6D is a stripped version of the 5DIII, there's a reason for the 'insanity'. No other way to ensure you continue to sell your best product. If Nikon and Canon did all the upgrades we asked for, they'd sell very little D800s/5DIIIs. The only reason to buy the pro-grades would be for a better AF system. Nearly all else would be be equal.

Wasn't that the case with the 5D2 and 1Ds3? Granted, the 1Ds3 had the best AF Canon had at the time, and the 5D2 pretty much lacked an AF system...

The D700 vs D3 were even closer.

Basically a D4 lite? Good luck

I hope that current D600 owners get a significant trade-in value (really, it should be 100% minus a bit for devaluation from time, number of activations, etc.).

I had another Nikon DSLR (won't name it, but was released a couple years ago) that did the same thing. At first I thought it was dust, but eventually learned it was oil. Very disappointing. I knew it was oil because I only used one lens the whole time I owned it, and the dust shaker made no difference.

I've never had dust on a canon sensor.

Thank you. bw!

that's good for Canon, feel bad for Nikon D600 users, within a year Nikon will release exact camera just fixing oil/dust problem, and sell D610 for another $2K.

already heard so much complaints about how Nikon handle problem on Nikon D600, many users not very happy.

Maybe Canon will announce a EOS 6.1D, with 19 cross-focus points.

Would the D610 - without any changes from the 600 except the correction of oil/dust issue -
be a better purchase than the Canon 6D?
