Hello,

As I don't shoot any action at all I am thinking about trading the 1D Mk II for a 5D ("classic").

What I like about the 5D:
-amazing sensor
-FF lenses "work at their native focal length"
-batteries ( I dislike NP-E3)
What I don't like about it:
everything else :D (it feels like a toy compared to the 1D)

I would mostly shoot architecture, urban exploration, city scapes, maybe street and occasional portraits. I wouldn't shoot sports, car racing and jets.
Next summer I will probably buy a 5D II anyway. (or a 1DS II)

By the way I really like the 1D files. They are so much more flexible than my old 30D files. Is it the same with the 5D?

I have owned both the 5d and the 1dMk2n. If I recall the pixel pitch is identical on these cameras. They both produce very clean images at lower ISOs.
If you don't need the speed of the 1d, I think you'll prefer the 5d for architecture, especially if you like wide angle.
One thing I recalled from the 5d is I didn't rate the AF very high, anything other than centerpoint was a little poor. If you have the funds, keep the 1d and buy the 5d, then after a couple of months get rid of the body you're not using anymore...

I have both and think that they pretty much produce the same looking files also. I would not really like to have to decide between them

seems like you've already made up your mind. two awesome cameras that are great at two very different things. it is a toy that takes incredible stills mind you ;)

The image from 1D2 is really nice, i've enjoyed grain from files at 400-800 a lot. Original 5D is a nice camera, but i don't know if i'd make that switch ;-)a

The 5D is magic. Switched from the 1D3, no regrets here.

Had both, 5dc is little better in picture quality. Trying to sell as I moved to 6d but no takers. So may keep it.

I was getting into surfing photography and scored a great deal on a 1d2. I don't have much time to shoot surfing as I'd rather be surfing and most of my photos are of my kids. The 1d2 does a great job of getting the action from my 2 and 4 year old but lugging the body w/brick/drainpipe was getting old.

So I picked up a 5dc two weeks ago and love it. Great IQ and was pleasantly surprised w/the AF and got some fun ones during the kids swim lessons. The 5dc is much lighter and does feel like a toy compared to a 1D but after completing a hike was glad I had the 5d. I was getting ready to dump the 1d2 but as we walked to the rec pool I saw the kids playing AYSO and my 4 year old wants to play again so I'll be keeping my 1d2 as I know when the kids get into sports I'll be pulling out my faithful body.

For what the OP's intending the 5dc should work well and I too am already planning on upgrading to a 5d2 next year. Pull the trigger!
