There are two motorcycle road racing meetings held over the 37.73 mile Mountain Circuit on the Isle of Man. The more famous being the Isle of Man TT, the other one is the Manx Grand Prix.

The Manx GP is a training ground for future TT riders. Riders start of in the Newcomers Races and progress to the Junior, Lightweight, Supertwin and Senior races. In the past there have also been classic bike races but the TT organisers revised the Manx and separated the classic races into what is now known as the Classic TT.

Together the Manx GP and Classic TT are The Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling and here are a few photos from this years Festival. With these I am trying to show the great scenery and the uniqueness of the Isle of Man Mountain Circuit.

Nice set of shots as always Alan hope you enjoyed the fortnight, personally i preferred the old format and didnt like the clear division between the 2 events.

Thanks guys.

Martyn, this was my first Manx GP so I can't say which I preferred. All I can say is it really felt like two competing events and the fuss made over the big name riders to the exclusion of the regular Manx riders didn't sit well. Most noticeable after Monday was the empty feeling at the top of the paddock.

On the plus side I did enjoy myself and the sight of the older and smaller bikes on the circuit was a nixe change from the TT.

I agree with everything youve said Alan the lack of people and teams by Tuesday was staggering and i did feel a bit sorry for the MGP boys.

On the plus side the level of machinery on display was wonderful and the organisers should be commended for that, lets hope for next year the 2 organising teams can come together and work as 1 team.

@GAZA.. It was busier than normal but nowhere near like the TT so theres plenty of room to shoot from that at the TT would be full of people
