Dragonflies

I started the day with a sunrise shoot and on the way back to the car I noticed there were several dragonflies in the area. Several things I wish I had done differently, but I just made due. Shallow DOF, higher ISO since rain was on the way as it was overcast/dark out..no flash for a little fill and to freeze things... tripod... etc. It was a challenge to find a balance. All in all... a few keepers... but again.. more DOF would have been great. Next time!

Wonderful shots, Hatch. Love that first one tremendously!

Making due, improvising, coping with the unexpected, dealing with unfavorable weather. These are some of the things that make working in the field, as opposed to the studio, such a challenge and so rewarding. Yes, in hindsight, you could have chosen a higher aperture for more depth of field but hay the important point is that you've captured the essence of the moment, the beauty of that elusive and majestic dragonfly.
