Hi,

If so how do they compare?

I ask as no doubt I'll get one at some point mostly for the video side, but I really would like to know how those lucky few are finding them.

Ta.

To clarify, just so the OP's thread doesn't get off track. The title of the thread is, So anyone got a 5DIII and a "70D" .

And it's the frames per second that are faster between the 2 bodies you mentioned N2bnfunn.:)

I thought about adding the 70d to my 5d3 briefly. Then I saw the specs and figured I'd be better off waiting for the 7d2 if that ever happens.

Have both, love the 5d3 to bits, just getting to grips with the 70D, going to see if it can do the macro side of my activities, and maybe birds with the 1.6 crop advantages.

Time will tell:D

Would you mind posting some high ISO comparisons between the two?

Now thats what I was thinking - that and video of course, plus the screen would help get things just were they should be - I'm also hoping the wifi would be handy for getting self portraits right.

All in all the images I've seen look good too.

Now the question is, once you get used to it how does it feel? Are the buttons roughly in the same spot and do the dual wheels still work the same, if so then I imagine swapping between the two should be pretty easy.

I have the 5D III, and I'm considering adding a 70D. I could just pick up a 60D for backup at the current prices, but I really would like to have the AF for video to record my son's music performances.

After using the gripped 5Dmk3 and 1Dx for a long time, I picked up the 70D/18-55STM mainly for video purposes since its lighter and can do continuous AF during video recording. Plan to use on a shoulder rig or Defy G5 stabilizer.
Had it out on a couple of fun still shoots and this is a really nice camera! Buttons are sparser than the big brothers but logical. The flip out screen is a nice touch. And being able to focus by touching the LCD is cool. 7fps is a bit faster than the 5D mk3 and the buffer fills after about 15-20 shots using a Sandisk 32gB extreme card. Easily fast enough to catch birds in flight.
BUT I'm imagining IQ is the primary question.
After a bit of pixel peeping there's nothing left wanting in normal shooting conditions. Hard time telling which camera images came from. I tried a few shots indoors at ISO3200 and I would say that's about the limit of useability. The 5D mk3 is easily useable at double that. The 70D has the built in flash though which can trigger my pair of 580exII's. Have to put a trigger on the 5D mk3 to use two lights.
Now...the other big feature on the 70D is the AF system. True it's dumbed down software-wise from the 5D mk3 but it works extremely well...I think just as well.
5D mk3 is still the resolution king and the 1Dx is super fast and accurate but the 70D is a great camera and will be very useful alongside the big brothers.

Hmn, very interesting - thank you - some really nice shots there too (especially two and five) and and can see what you mean its not obvious, although I suspect it might be more so on a 135 at f2, but thats why you;d have a full frame and a crop.

Very interesting about the AF as well - I'll have to look into how its dumbed down but if it has the same AF as the 7D I recall that part of the camera being very good.

Between what I see here and where the 5D3 is its hard to imagine what they plan to do with the 7DII to shoehorn it into that gap without treading on the 1DX's toes.
