Thanks!

It's not the same AF as the 7D. The way it uses the sensor is different and the software is different. Kind of like a "best of" from the 5Dmk3/1Dx. You don't have as many modes or as many points to choose from. I would say its better than the 7D though. I used to own one before going full frame.

Speculating, the 7D mk2 would be a 20mp APS-C version of the 1Dx with 10fps, dual processors, CF and SD card slots, no flip out screen, built in flash, weather sealed and crossing fingers for 1080 60p video.
That would not encroach on any camera but would fill some gaps.

1Dx, 5D mk3, 70D, C100, glass for all occasions, and a studio full of support gear!

Would you mind posting some high ISO comparisons between the two?

I get precious little time with running a business, if I'm out with a camera, that's what I'm out to do I'm afraid, use the camera for taking pictures.
Wish I had the time to spend doing lots of tests for people, but at the end of the day, if it produces what I want, for what I shoot, that's all the testing I need to do.

All I can do, is post the results like I normally do, I gave up with the 7D as it would not give me what I wanted, in the way I wanted to use it. Let's see what happens when I get out on a proper macro shoot, and have a crack at some birdies.....

Got to MA my lenses first though, because the facility is there, there's always going to be an element of doubt if you don't do it;)

That's it, lunch cut short, customers to see to......

THIS ^^^^^^^^

More than enough gap in the Canon lineup to support a 7d2. This is why I passed on the 70d. I'd be really surprised if Canon doesn't release a 7d2. Just like the 6d and 5d2 can coexist so can the 70d and 7d2.

Thanks all - I have to say without the flip out screen the 7DII would be of little interest to me, I used to have a 60D and loved it, plus the 5D3 does everything I need (and if I'm honest much more) for stills.

Just one last question - thankfully not something I have to worry about just now - if you had to sell you 5D3 could you live with just the 70D and if so what would you miss most?

I would miss just about everything on the 5d3. If I could only have one I would definitely choose the 5d3, no brainer but that's coming from somebody that turned his nose up at the 6d before going with the 5d3. With no choice I'm sure the majority of us would be able to make due with the 70d. It's not like its a bad camera. If you really don't need all the features of the 5d3 and aren't hell bent on going full frame the 70d would be a much more cost effective alternative. Hell the 60d would do as well and that's a steal for what it's selling for now. Please keep in mind that I don't care about video. I only use my cameras for stills.

Thanks Lucy - sort of what I guessed, just thinking ahead in case my job came under threat and I had to downgrade.
