Hi guys,

Couldn't extract answers from the manual, and the wife is out of town with the camera until tomorrow, so hoping you can answer these questions.

First, assume I am only saving RAW file format. Second my wife LOVES the EOS remote app on her iPhone.

Question 1. If shooting raw, are the photos available for review on the touchscreen? I mean, the camera will convert it to a viewable image on the fly for review?

Question 2. My wife loves connecting her iPhone to the camera and saving photos to the phone with the EOS Remote app. I do understand that the camera will only transfer lower resolution JPGs, but these are fine for her web use. Question is, will the camera still do this if we are only saving RAW files? Or do we have to save a JPG file for the camera to transfer a copy to her iPhone?

Thank you,
Michael

What I am looking at now:
I am going to start with the 24-70 2.8 glass. Some R body to pair it with.

It works in RAW format. The image you see on the back monitor on camera is a jpg image created from your RAW file. Phone app is also the jpg preview image. I just got a 70D Friday and have tried it and I only shoot RAW. I guess I need to update my signature!

Thank you, Shane. Was worried if I only saved RAW, it would be harder for her to FBook her pics.

When the camera saves a RAW image, it embeds a jpeg image inside the CR2 file. This is the jpeg you see on the rear display, if you review the image in the camera itself. It's created with the picture style settings which were active when the image was taken.

The answer is yes to both questions.

I have a 6D and when you shoot RAW only, the camera converts it to the smaller jpg size before it transfers the picture to the phone. I shoot RAW + S3 so it doesn't have to convert it beforehand.

I have an Android phone and the app renames the photos I transfer by the date and time they were transferred, not when they were shot. If I transfer a later photo after an earlier photo, they will be in the wrong order on my phone. The only way to preserve file naming is by using an on the go adapter in my phone's USB connector.

I have a question to add,.

With the Android remote app can you transfer the original .CR2 files for backup?
