I'd like to know how many photos you can get onto a 512MB CF card . Apparently 64 of the highest resolution but on the other 2 settings? (i'm wondering how many 512's i should get?)

I use 256Mb cards at the moment and my 10D says 95 best quality JPEGs (Large/fine) at ISO200.
But often gets more than that!
Be aware that altering the ISO setting will vary the number of images, also other camera settings (Sport mode etc) will vary the image capacity.

How many 100 iso jpegs or RAW or tiffs do you get and how many "middle" quality jpegs do you get?

The shots remaining counter seems fairly accurate. It shows the following on my 1GB card (divide by 2 for 512):

RAW ISO 100: 162 *
RAW ISO 400: 153 *
RAW ISO 800: 147 *
Large Fine ISO 100: 409
Large Fine ISO 400: 362
Medium Fine ISO 100: 774
Medium Fine ISO 400: 682

Most of the lower settings overflow the counter at 999

edit -
* all RAW values with the smallest embedded JPG setting. I never want the JPG anyway :)

I get 77-80 shots on my Lexar 40X 512mb card with RAW and jpeg set to small and lowest quality. I don't care at all about the jpg files. At ISO 100 it is 80 shots. At ISO 200 it is 77 shots and at ISO 400 it is 76 shots.

To be honest, I haven't really paid attention. I seem to recall that I get about 70 or so in RAW, also with embedded high quality JPEGS (I could be wrong about this number though). So far I have mostly shot high res JPEGs, and have never shot lower res than that. My ISO is pretty much set on 400, and I don't really pay much attention to my counter if I do change it, so I can't help with the various ISO settings.

Hi,

Is the 512Mb/40x (WA) already compatible with the 10D? On the Lexar site Cano is not mentioned.

Yes, it is compatible with the 10D, but the 10D does not support WA, which is probably why they don't mention it. I have a Lexar 1-Gig card that supports WA, and it works fine in my 10D. It would be faster in a camera that supported WA.

Yes Rick,. The D100 is the only Camera I know that "does the WA Thang" :D

Too clrify,. the Lexars will work in the 10D and other Canon cameras but they will not take full advantagbe of the speed ratings. In fact a 40X may be a waste of cash in a 10D.

You will however get that 40X READ speed if you have a sutably fast Card reader hooked to your PC,. (like Firewire or USB2 )

I think it depends a lot on the details in images you shoot. I've seen that my images vary from 1400 kB to over 3000 kB per image (all taken with 100 iso and in the P setting).
I use a Sandisk Ultra 512 MB, and the camera display shows just over 200 images.
