We've had a pretty good Hummingbird season this year. The adult male Ruby-throat has been king of the yard for the past month and this morning it looks he has finally moved on.
Here are a few images of three Hummers in the mix from the past few weeks. First up is an immature male Black-chinned Hummer that gave the adult Ruby-throat some competition.
Thanks for looking in.

Nice shots Brad! I get jealous of these lol I can't seem to attract the buggers to my feeders, although my wife tells me one was feeding the other day but I wasn't home at the time....figures. But your shots are really nice.

I live in Rowlett, TX. I haven't seen any until last Sunday. Not familiar with the different types, the one I see is like the one in your last picture. I talked to a guy at a bird supply store today and he said August and September has been the pattern around here for the last several years. What do you think?

Thanks a bunch Craig, I'm glad you liked them. Maybe you'll get lucky and get one soon.

Hello Larry, I live in Rockwall right down the road from you. Here in north Texas we have the Ruby-throated hummingbird and the not as common Black-chinned hummingbird. I'd say the guy at the store was right. I usually see the highest number of Hummers from about the last week of July through the first week of Sept. That is when the Hummers are working their way down south. Monday of last week I counted at least 6 different Hummers at our feeder. All but one (the adult male in my post) left that day. Thanks for the comments.
