Olympus DSLR with live preview

Pretty neat idea, add a second low resolution sensor in to handle live preview. Could probably do video using the same trick. Now if you can do that without hampering having a decent optical view finder it could be a good bonus. Sure its not enough for critical focus but it could provide hisogram preview, 100% view, and a few other useful touches.

How useful would that really be though? I wouldn't imagine it had a roatatin screen on it, so it would be right up against camera. Might as well just use viewfinder. As tIm said in another thread "I might use it if I had it, but I definately wouldn't pay more for it."

It could be a lot of use of done well enough. I'd pay extra for it but not much. It would be very useful if coupled with a fold out LCD. Those are not much use on a current DSLR but the ones on the G series cameras I've used in exceedingly useful.

It'd allow people to chimp before they even press the button. Not too big a deal but if you are taking time with your shots having a histogram preview such as is common on DP&S bodies would be nice.

I believe the new Oly does come with a fold out screen. Great for stealth candids and overhead shots. One of the main reasons I still use my G5 on occasions.
