8-way dpad

New 60d. I know this seems stupid, but the up direction on my pad makes slight noise sometimes when pressed. Almost like a sticking noise but it is not sticking and works fine. Everything feels right and in place.....ok? Are these pads know to break? 200 exposures on camera. I don't honk it is defective. More f that pad riding inside of the outer wheel.

Mine works fine. Is it rubbing against the wheel?

I can hear almost like unsticking a weak piece of scotch tape when I press the upper arrow. Maybe a squeak? There is no lateral movement of the dpad between the main dial. It works and does what it should, just a slightly perceptible noise as described above with the up arrow only.

Or a soft click. Not rubbing against wheel.....

Mine does not do that. My guess is it is being caused by the underlying switch and/or the rubber dust/weather sealing gasket.

Did you buy it locally?

It only seems to do it once.

I had to go to a very quiet place and put my ear about 4" from the camera to detect it, but mine does have very quiet click, or something, when going up that is not audible when going down, left or right. If I go up several times, it goes away, then does it when I go down. Repeat for going down several times. If that is what you are talking about, I'd ignore it. My 60D was a refurb. I've had it just over two years, put about 15,000 clicks on it, and have no problems at all with it.

It seems to be lessening. Maybe wishful thinking. It definitely goes away after you start using it. Very weird. It will basically make hat little click, but once you start using the pad it doesn't come back until it sits I guess. As hown in the video....

My guess it is the gasket. I'll check mine in a few as it has been sitting for about a week and see if it makes any noise. Mine is 2.5 years old.

I think I'm just going to use the crap out of it. It seems to be lessening. It only does it for the first press or two after it sits. Yashica FX2 reports the same thing. If you think it's a real issue I can return it. I'm thinking it happens when maybe you press it a little harder.

I spent a fair bit of time Googling '60D problems', '60D d-pad', '60D issues' and such things. I came up with nothing. I hope that reassures you as much as it does me. This body is nearly 4 years old, now. Sure if there were a common problem, the internet would know about. Be happy. Go shoot something.

If I returned it I think the may think I cracked up. I mean, it's a problem having OCD. So I guess if you say yours does it, I'm betting its not a deformity.
