An approaching thunderstorm dumps rain over the Teton Range as some cloud to cloud lighting strikes. About 20 minutes later I was hit with horizontal rain from this storm and I fled to escape the intense lighting this storm was starting to produce. The clouds were making interesting movements and layers as the storm approached. Grand Teton is obscured by the torrential rain in the distance. A Lightning Trigger IV helped me capture the lightning.

Very interesting shot. But,... you 'fled'? A dedicated photographer is supposed to weather any storm to keep taking pictures. Haha.

(I'll have to admit that I made that comment from the comfort of my air-conditioned living room.)

It's pretty simple really. I was the highest thing around. Cloud to ground lightning was getting too close. If you hear thunder in less than 30 seconds after lightning, you are within range.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Fantastic sky and lighting. I might be tempted to try to pick a bit more detail out of the mountain range through the downpour if I were you, but not sure how much more there is to get out of it, or if that would compete too much with the closer dark clouds near the top of the image. Just a thought.
