if you were trying to stop the action then it looks like you accomplished your goal...

if you wanted a bit more blur with the guy jumping the bike, then you need a slower shutter speed...

-im just trying. sometimes i succeed

You did a good job with this one.

But I think 1/250 is a bit too slow for this type action. You were fortunate to catch this one with no blur. I'd bump it to at least 1/500 and higher if I had the light/ISO capability. You were at ISO 100 so you certainly had some room there if needed.

I would look for a different angle to eliminate a cluttered background if possible. All the graffiti is great but the clutter of the fence and shops draw the eye. Angle of the shot can also help. I like a lower view of the action.

I haven't done any skateboarding shots in a long while - I'll have to give it a couple more tries before the rain sets in out here.

as the guy, who have worked with BMX for years, I can say, that this is bad image due to a posture of the rider. it's horrible. either he is into some fast trick before the landing [as he is going down already] (barspin), or just obviously does not have technique for high jumps into the flat yet. Either way - not good. Presumed comp with little kid looking up etc. - does not work for the same reason.

If you want to shoot BMX [or in any sport, i guess], you should at least spend couple days at skatepark/trails/whatever just to see, what's what, so to speak. kudos.

Could use some selective DOF, but the subject itself looks good. Just too many distractions in the background.

Cool shot, but dude on the bike looks like an Oompa Loompa and the red awning in the BG looks crazy bright too. De-saturate this pronto!
