Looks like those new Sony add on cameras for cell phones are available for preorder over at B&H Photo.

$499 for the QX100 and $249 for the QX10 in either black or white models.

Think I will just stick my my EOS M.

It is bizarre, pay more for 2/3rds of a camera and cumbersome set up?
Weird.

On the other hand, could we use them "off Phone" for remote set ups? that might be cool.

I can't for the life of me figure out who the market is or how this product begins to make sense. This has "just because we can" written all over it.

Some obvious downsides:

For the QX100, you lose a lot of features and functionality of the RX100 II including raw image capture, a flash and a hot shoe, several shooting options including full manual control, much better video quality, and physical controls.

You still have to carry around a second device (that's not as easily pocketable as the RX100 II), and now you have two battery lives to worry about: the camera's and your smartphone's. And although you can turn it on and shoot without pairing, you have to pair it to actually see what you're shooting or change any settings. Not to mention a lengthy startup time of 6.9 seconds.

The QX10 makes a bit more sense because it's smaller, less expensive, and designed more for casual photographers who want some zoom range to supplement their smartphone photography.

But, again, it's still a second device and that's not what people want. They want these features -- zoom lenses, better photo quality, etc. -- in their smartphones.

You can use it remotely using your smartphone apparently.

Like I stated originally. I will just stick to my EOS M for my small camera needs.

Considering that there are now multiple models from every major brand that allow remote WiFi control and image sharing (including the RX100 II), the only thing this adds to the table is the ability to clip on to your camera.

I also think it would actually be less portable than many premium compacts because it is a cyclinder instead of a flat rectangle.

Those who care about photography won't pay $500 for a "camera" that can't be used on its own and has fewer controls than my non-smart camera phone did 10 years ago.

Those who don't care about photography, won't pay $500 for the "burden" of carrying this thing around. What a ridiculous idea....I saw this on 9gag earlier today, and I thought it was a Photoshopped hoax...(honestly!!!)
